A Serene Escape to Manali – My Journey into the Himalayas

There’s something magical about the mountains – a calmness that seeps into your soul and a silence that speaks louder than words. My recent trip to Manali, nestled in the heart of Himachal Pradesh, was exactly that – magical, serene, and unforgettable.

Day 1: Journey Begins – The Road to Paradise

We started our journey from Delhi late at night, taking an overnight Volvo bus. The winding roads, cool breeze, and gradual drop in temperature made it clear – we were leaving behind the chaos of the city and heading toward peace. As dawn broke, the snow-capped peaks greeted us. By the time we reached Manali, the air was crisp, and the views were breathtaking.

Day 2: Exploring Old Manali – A Bohemian Vibe

After checking into our hotel with a stunning view of the Beas River, we set out to explore Old Manali. The vibe here is distinctly different – cozy cafes, handmade crafts, music filling the air, and people from all over the world sipping coffee while watching the mountains. We visited the Manu Temple, believed to be the only temple dedicated to the sage Manu. Later, we enjoyed dinner at Café 1947, right by the river.

Day 3: Rohtang Pass – A Snowy Adventure

This was the highlight of the trip – a visit to Rohtang Pass. Located at 13,050 feet, the drive itself was thrilling with sharp curves and snow all around. Playing in the snow, riding snowmobiles, and sipping hot Maggi in the biting cold was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It felt like standing on the edge of the world.

Day 4: Solang Valley & Adventure Sports

Our next stop was Solang Valley, where adventure awaited. From paragliding and zorbing to skiing (in winters), it’s a paradise for thrill-seekers. I tried paragliding for the first time – floating above the valley with the wind in my face and a bird’s eye view of the Himalayas is something I’ll never forget.

Day 5: Hidimba Temple & Local Culture

We visited the ancient Hidimba Devi Temple, surrounded by towering deodar trees. The architecture and peaceful ambiance made it a spiritual haven. Later, we explored the local Tibetan Monastery, shopped for woolen goods at the Mall Road, and tasted local Himachali cuisine like Siddu and Tudkiya Bhat.

Final Thoughts: Why Manali Stole My Heart

Manali is not just a destination; it’s a feeling. It’s early morning mist, late-night bonfires, endless cups of chai, and stories shared under a starlit sky. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, Manali has something for everyone.

I returned home with a heart full of memories, a camera full of pictures, and a mind refreshed. If you're looking to escape into nature, Manali is waiting for you – with open arms and snow-covered peaks.
